Honkai Impact 3rd

Story

Honkai Impact 3rd is set in an alternative version of Earth, plagued by disasters caused by "Honkai" (which means "the collapse"). Honkai is largely seen as a malevolent force with a mind of its own that can turn people into undead creatures, manifest itself in the form of various monsters, and endow various individuals known as "rulers" with god-like powers that can trigger apocalyptic events. The Honkai is a cyclical phenomenon that returns every time civilization on Earth has advanced too far - the Previous Era ended 50,000 years before the start of the game, after the 14th World War. In the present, there are various global factions that fight or exploit the power of Honkai. These include "Fate," a European-based peace organization that uses human warriors called Valkyries to fight Honkai; "Anti-Entropy," the former North American branch of Fate that opposed the use of human soldiers in favor of mechanized robots; and "World Serpent," a shadowy organization that has been manipulating events since the end of the Previous Era. Prior to the beginning of the story, there were three Ruler Awakenings (or "impacts") in the Present Era: the Ruler of Reason, who became the leader of Anti-Entropy instead of fighting humanity; the Ruler of the Void, who was locked away by Fate under mysterious circumstances; and the Ruler of Lightning, who was prevented from fully awakening and sent to train his powers as a Valkyrie in Fate's St. Freya School. The plot of Honkai Impact 3rd spans several additional media, including an anime series, several Manhua series and promotional videos.
