Halo: Combat Evolved

A powerful community of alien races known as the Covenant seeks to wipe out humanity and destroy Earth's fledgling interstellar empire. You take on the role of Master Chief, a biologically altered super soldier, and together with the other surviving defenders of a destroyed colony world, make a desperate attempt to lure the alien fleet away from Earth. Shot down and stranded on the ancient ring world of Halo, you begin a guerrilla war against the Covenant. Fight for humanity against the alien onslaught and try to uncover the secrets of Halo.

Story

After the fall of Reach, the Pillar of Autumn, the only surviving human ship, makes an accidental slip-space jump away from the planet to avoid guiding the Covenant to Earth. As the Pillar of Autumn leaves slip-space, it finds itself near a large artificial ring world. A Covenant fleet hiding behind the neighboring planet attacks the Autumn. Biologically enhanced super soldier John 117, also known as Master Chief, is brought out of cryostasis. He makes his way to the bridge and fights off hordes of attacking Covenant troops. The Master Chief picks up the ship's AI (artificial intelligence) Cortana from the ship's captain, Captain Keyes. The Chief and Cortana board a rescue ship and begin to make their way to the surface of Ringworld. The Chief is the only one in his escape pod to survive the impact and sneaks away from the crash site. After collecting all of Autumn's survivors, the Chief attacks a Covenant ship to rescue Captain Keyes. Keyes tells the Chief and Cortana that the Covenant call this world Halo.
