There's trouble in the mines! Volcanic activity has trapped numerous miners, and it's your job to rescue them. As Roderick Hero, you'll have to make your way through the dangerous mine shaft, avoiding the dangerous creatures and lava, and find out where the miners are before you run out of energy. To help you in your mission, Roderick Hero has various useful equipment. With a propeller pack you'll be able to hover and fly through the mine shaft, avoiding (hopefully) the many dangers. Your helmet has a short-range microlaser beam that you can use to destroy bats, spiders, snakes and other creatures you encounter in the mines. From time to time, your path through the mine may be blocked by stone or lava walls. At the beginning of each mission, you'll have six sticks of dynamite with which to destroy these obstacles (be careful not to blow yourself up, though!). If you run out of dynamite, you can also use your laser beam to destroy the walls. As you progress through the levels, the mine shaft becomes longer and more labyrinthine, creatures block the way more often, and dangerous lava walls and pools appear.
