Growl

Growl

At the start of the game, you select one of four different rangers, each of which has a different amount of health, attack power and jump height. The game controls consist of an eight-way joystick to move the character and two action buttons (attack and jump). Depending on the position of the opponent, the player can execute various attacks (punches, kicks and finishing blows). If the player presses both buttons while surrounded by enemies, he can perform a special attack that hits all enemies around him. If you press both buttons while holding the joystick up, the player will perform a longer jump. The player can obtain weapons by destroying barrels and wooden crates or by disarming certain enemies. There are a total of eight weapons that can be obtained: three melee weapons (a pipe, a sword and a whip), two throwing weapons (knives and hand grenades) and three firearms (a pistol, a machine gun and a rocket launcher). You can also pick up the barrels and crates and throw them at your opponents. If the machine gun or rocket launcher runs out of ammunition, the player can still use them as melee weapons. The pistol, on the other hand, is thrown by the player when all the bullets have been used up. The player can drop their current weapon by pressing the button and attacking while wielding it. If a weapon is on the ground after a certain amount of time, it disappears completely. There are seven regular stages (called rounds) and one bonus game, for a total of eight stages. Locations include a town, a moving train, a boat, a jungle, a cave and the poachers' hideout. There are six different types of enemies in the game, apart from the final boss (which has two forms). There are also animal helpers to help the player after being rescued by a poacher, such as an eagle, a herd of deer and an elephant.
