Gridrunner Revolution

Gridrunner Revolution is a game that has evolved over 27 years. The original Gridrunner games were developed in 1982 for the Commodore 64 and the Vic-20. The company that developed the games, Llamasoft, is now one of the oldest game developers around and has pioneered the field of music visualization in recent years, creating genre-preceding games such as Tempest 2000 and the extraordinary Space Giraffe. Gridrunner Revolution takes some core ideas from these old Commodore games and evolves them to create a game that is both modern and exceptionally beautiful. The gameplay goes far beyond just shooting and leads players to high scores by engaging with the game mechanics to create aesthetically pleasing abstract graphic "performances" as they play. There are multiple game modes and simulations of the original Vic and C64 games to help players understand the history of the game and its evolution in the 21st century.
