God of War: Chains of Olympus
In the third part of the God of War series, Kratos makes his first appearance on a portable gaming platform. Chains of Olympus is a prequel and takes place a decade before the events of the first God of War. While retaining the familiar gameplay dynamics of its predecessors, subtle changes enhance the overall experience. Kratos embarks on a journey through various levels, relentlessly battling enemies and fearsome bosses, deciphering puzzles based on the manipulation of crates and participating in quick-time events. During his odyssey, he collects red orbs to boost his weapons and abilities, gorgon eyes to improve his health, and phoenix feathers to enhance his magical abilities. The game's controls have been refined to harmonize with the PSP's reduced button layout. Dodging, for example, now requires the use of both shoulder buttons and the analog stick. The iconic Blades of Chaos, synonymous with the God of War series, return, accompanied by a range of new weapons and magical spells such as the Sun Shield, Efreet Spell and Light of Dawn. The story begins with the gods sending Kratos to the city of Attica, tasking him with defending against an advancing Persian army. But when Morpheus unleashes chaos, Kratos is forced to use his mighty powers to once again save the world from impending doom.
Story
Chains of Olympus is set in the middle of Kratos' ten-year service to the gods and begins with Kratos being sent to the city of Attica to defend it against the invading Persian army. Shortly after his arrival, the Spartan discovers a basilisk climbing over the city walls and takes up pursuit. During the pursuit, Kratos encounters the Persian king in the city and kills him. Using the king's power to summon the Efreet, he encounters and kills the Basilisk. After defeating the Basilisk, he sees the sun fall from the sky, plunging the world into darkness. Following the faint residual light on the horizon, Kratos fights his way through the city of Marathon and encounters the black mist of Morpheus, which now envelops the land in darkness.
