Ghostbusters II

Ghostbusters II

The release of "Ghostbusters II" for DOS, based on the movie of the same name.

Story

The Ghostbusters are back in this sequel based on the second film in the franchise. It's been five years since the Ghostbusters roasted the 30-story marshmallow threatening downtown Manhattan. The Ghostbusters sent the city a huge bill and the city sent back an even bigger bill for the damage. Both filed for bankruptcy, and the Ghostbusters, now retired, have since moved on. Unbeknownst to the former ghostbusters, a river of slime has formed beneath the city, feeding off the negative energy of New York's population. Meanwhile, a new resident of the art museum, a 300-year-old painting of Vigo the Carpathian and his immortal soul, has arrived and is waiting to come out to use the approaching slime as a means of escape. The game begins with a trial of the ghost hunters, with escaped spirits wreaking havoc in the courtroom. A battle ensues and the player must attempt to vaporize the flying ghost in a sidescrolling environment while dodging the ectoplasm thrown by the ghost. Victory or defeat in this battle, as well as in future battles with ghosts, is summarized in a newspaper article at the end of the battle. After the battle in the courtroom, the main game begins in the Ghostbusters' office. Here the player chooses various activities such as: trying to earn money by answering emergency calls to chase ghosts, collecting slime from the sewers, testing slime (if successfully collected from the sewers) and checking the roster.
