Story
The game is set in the year 2171, 50 years after the events of Front Mission 5: Scars of the War. In the 22nd century, the world's superpowers are striving to expand into space and start building large structures called orbital elevators. As more and more surveillance satellites and space-based technologies are developed, a Cold War-like atmosphere is created, as the supranational federations use these technologies to monitor their enemies on Earth. The plot of Front Mission Evolved revolves around USN engineer Dylan Ramsey. As an engineer for weapons developer Diable Avionics, Dylan begins testing a prototype Wanzer on Long Island, New York. In the midst of the Wanzer test, unknown forces begin attacking New York City and its orbital elevator, Percival. Concerned for his father's safety in the city, he sets out for New York City with the prototype. As he makes his way through the city to the National Strategic Research Laboratory (NSRL), Ramsey assists USN troops in their fight against the unknown attackers. After fighting his way through numerous enemy tanks, vehicles, and aircraft, Dylan arrives at the NSRL site just as missiles are being fired at the building. With his father apparently dead, he fights the attacker, Marcus Seligman of the Apollo's Chariot. The fight is interrupted when the orbital elevator begins to crash into New York City. After Percival collapses, Dylan is recruited into the USN army, which is preparing for war against the Oceania Cooperative Union.
