Story
Fazbear Entertainment has become extremely unpopular due to several incidents and disasters that are said to have occurred at their various locations over the years, establishing themselves as urban legends. Compounding the problem is a horror video game series based on these legends and developed by an unnamed indie developer. To improve the bad reputation these rumors have earned the company, Fazbear Entertainment has commissioned the "Freddy Fazbear Virtual Experience", a virtual reality game that aims to debunk the rumors and convince players that the events are fictitious. However, this account is contradicted by sixteen cassette tapes hidden in the game, which contain transcripts recorded by one of the game's developers. As a warning to future players, the tapes reveal a lawsuit that occurred during the game's development involving an incident with a former employee, Jeremy, that jeopardized the game's completion. Additionally, the tapes reveal that Fazbear Entertainment hired the unnamed indie developer to create the video game series based on the alleged legends and then parted ways with him; the games were part of an elaborate scheme to discredit the rumors surrounding the company. Most importantly, the tapes warn of a malicious code uploaded to the game from an old circuit board. This code takes the form of a sinister character called Glitchtrap, who appears as a humanoid in a bunny suit. In the end, it turns out that Glitchtrap is trying to escape from the game by merging with the player. After the non-VR version was released, there was a door in one level that leads to a snowy Christmas tree farm. In the distance, the silhouette of a large building being built by Fazbear Entertainment can be seen, and a nearby billboard indicates that the company is now hiring.
