Fighter's History
Fighter's History is a 1993 arcade fighting game, developed and published by Data East. It is the first game in the Fighter's History series. The main feature of Fighter's History is the weak point system, which lets the player temporarily stun an opponent by repeatedly hitting his weak point. Fighter's History gained notoriety through a lawsuit filed by Capcom against Data East, who claimed that the game was too similar to their hit Street Fighter II and thus violated their copyright. However, the case was decided in Data East's favor, since the court stated that the copied elements were scenes a faire, that is, elements that are necessary to represent the scenario. The game was ported to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994, followed by the sequel Karnov's Revenge for Neo Geo. Three different game modes are available. CPU Battle is the traditional arcade mode, in which the player selects a character and tries to finish the game by defeating all the other fighters. In Survival mode, the player selects a team of five characters to compete against another team. Finally, the Versus mode, in which the player can compete against his friends.
