Enter the Matrix
Enter the Matrix is the first video game based on The Matrix movie series. Its storyline ran parallel to that of The Matrix Reloaded and included over an hour of original material, directed by the Wachowskis and featuring the actors of the movie trilogy, produced exclusively for the game. One million copies were sold in the first eighteen days of release, 2.5 million in the first six weeks, and eventually 5 million copies. Enter the Matrix was first released in May 2003, the same month as The Matrix Reloaded, and was produced simultaneously with The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. It was developed by Shiny Entertainment, published by Atari and distributed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment for the GameCube, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2 and Xbox.
Story
The game was written and directed by the Wachowski brothers, and its storyline is interwoven with that of the second movie, The Matrix Reloaded. In Enter The Matrix, the player takes on the role of Niobe or Ghost, the captain or first officer of the rebel ship Logos. Niobe is a masterful fighter who can beat up anyone who gets in her way. She is an excellent pilot, both in the real world and in the Matrix. Ghost is very skilled with firearms and his marksmanship is masterful. Both characters are very athletic, and during the game the player will have to walk, run, jump, squint, run along walls, climb ladders and pipes, and fight against various opponents.
