Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce
Koei brings us another new installment in the Dynasty Warriors series. This installment also features the same storyline based on the romance of the three kingdoms, with the different officers as playable characters. The character list and appearance are the same as in Dynasty Warriors 6, which means that some of the characters from the previous game are not available. The difference is that the player can only choose one character for the chosen force (either Wei, Wu or Shu), which starts in a village that serves as the center or camp from which the game's battles are controlled. By completing story missions, some characters are added and can be played without starting a new game, that is, all acquired weapons, items and materials are preserved. The chosen character can be customized in various ways. In addition to the main weapon, a secondary weapon, chosen from many types of weapons, can be equipped. Both weapons can be changed at any time during combat to suit the situation at hand. A new addition is the Chi system, which can be used to give your character special abilities. There are four slots to equip Chi (the two arms and legs). Weapons can also be customized by adding orbs that give different abilities, such as elemental properties. In the village, the player can trade materials, buy weapons, items for combat, chi abilities and orbs. In the village, NPCs can appear that give materials or items, or officer cards that can be set to help the village grow. Over time, better items can be purchased in the stores. By talking to the quest board or the guard at the village gate, you can choose main missions or orders. Each battle is a series of small maps where various enemy soldiers and weapons are fought, eventually leading to the commander of the enemy army. The objective of each battle can vary, some are classic objectives like "defeat the commander" and others, less combat-oriented, like "collect all the treasure chests". There are also bonus missions, where the player must defeat a certain unit or reach a certain point before a certain time, etc. Each bonus mission gives extra experience points when it is fulfilled. Other innovations in the combat system include the possibility of aerial combat and the game's main feature: the rage mode, which is triggered when the rage meter (which replaces the traditional Musou meter) is full. The angry character has better stats and moves, and can use the infamous Musou attack to deal additional damage. To add to the surreal look of the game, some of the new bosses are actually huge, animal-like weapons that can usually only be defeated with the help of other players. The multiplayer mode is only available via an AdHoc connection and can connect up to four players.
