Drakengard

Drakengard

Drakengard tells the story of a royalist prince named Caim, who fights for the Union against the Empire. Under the protection of the Union are the Hierarchs and the Goddess, currently Caim's sister Furiae, who is a human manifestation of one of the four seals that protect the world from breaking. At the beginning of the game, Cain is mortally wounded in a battle with the Empire. When he encounters a captured Red Dragon who is also near death, Caim makes a fateful decision. In exchange for both their lives, the Red Dragon and Caim make a pact. This pact will chain their lives together forever and bind their souls together - at the cost of something irreplaceable. Charged with the fire of a dragon, Caim's vengeance burns over the enemy... The player controls Caim on his quest. The game is divided into three different modes: Air Combat, Ground Combat and Event Combat. In aerial combat, Caim rides on the dragon's back against a variety of enemies in the air that spew fireballs (powerful single shots and weaker multiple lock-on shots). The dragon is agile and can dodge incoming threats and turn around completely in the blink of an eye. In ground combat, the game is shown in 3rd person, but mostly in large, open areas. When you control Caim, his main ability is to use a variety of weapons that can be found on the battlefield. These are upgraded through constant use and especially by killing individual enemies. In ground combat, Caim can also summon his dragon to ride him and fight enemies from the air. Event combat is similar to ground combat, but is presented isometrically, limited to a single weapon and without the aid of a dragon. It is mainly used for story sequences.
