Story
The plot is linear and is mainly presented in the introductory and concluding full-motion video cutscenes. After the "Material Defender" (voiced by George DelHoyo) has destroyed all the mines in the solar system in the original game, it stops in the asteroid belt to dock. He is then contacted by Dravis, the CEO of the Post-Terran Mining Corporation, who exploits a loophole in a contract to force him to accept a new mission or lose his reward and take legal action. The material defender agrees, and while Dravis tries to convince him that he's only going on a recon mission, his ship is fitted with a prototype warp core. He is then sent out to clear the PTMC's mines beyond the solar system. The Material Defender teleports to Zeta Aquilae and five other fictitious star systems and destroys their mines. In the sixth system, the last mine appears to run through a planetoid, which turns out to be a large spaceship in the final cutscene. After the spaceship breaks apart, the Material Defender warns Dravis to return home, but his warp drive malfunctions and he teleports to an unknown location. The camera then fades to that location and the ship appears heavily damaged and crackling with excess radiation floating towards the camera, ending with the words "To be continued...".
