Darius II
Darius II is an arcade video game from 1989 that was developed by Taito. It is the direct sequel to Darius from 1987 and was later released as Sagaia in Japan in 1991 for the Game Boy and as a non-Japanese port. A remake was released in 1993 for the PC Engine Super CD-ROM as Super Darius II. A Mega Drive conversion was released in Japan in 1990; it was later released in the United States and Brazil in 1991 for the Genesis, where it was renamed Sagaia. Changes include a boss rush mode (via a code) and various modifications to the levels and game mechanics, such as moving the boss Steel Spine to a different level and replacing the boss Killer Higia with a similar creation called Nehonojia. Since this conversion does not support two players, the ability to choose between Proco Jr. and Tiat Young has been added; Proco plays as normal, while Tiat starts each life with a power level for each weapon. A Master System conversion developed by Natsume was released in Europe and Brazil in 1992, also titled Sagaia. It is based in some ways on the Mega Drive port, and while Tiat Young and her abilities are still present (albeit more limited), many zones (and therefore bosses) have been removed completely. The Super CD-ROM version includes a completely new set of bosses, major changes to the levels and a fully arranged soundtrack with new songs.
