Story

Generals is set in the near future where the United States and China work together to fight the Global Liberation Army (GLA), a terrorist organization based in Central Asia. The campaign is played in chronological order from the perspective of the Chinese, the GLA and then the United States. China: A military parade in Beijing is attacked by GLA forces, culminating in the detonation of a stolen Chinese nuclear warhead and the beginning of the GLA's incursion into China's borders. The Chinese attempt to stop and contain the GLA, but lose the Three Gorges Dam and the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center in the process. Now the Chinese go on the offensive and attack GLA strongholds until they reach the terrorist cell's headquarters in Dushanbe. The Chinese put an end to the GLA's offensive by using nuclear weapons. GLA: Despite its losses against China, the GLA maintains a presence throughout Central Asia and the Middle East. In order to regain its strength, the GLA attacks UN convoys and instigates unrest in Astana. When the United States enters the war, a GLA renegade sides with the Chinese to destroy the organization. The GLA retaliates by attacking the Baikonur Cosmodrome and using the platform to launch devastating poison attacks on densely populated cities. USA: The United States sends its forces to the Middle East, the Hindu Kush, and then Kazakhstan to put a stop to the GLA for good. Despite losses from GLA attacks and ambushes, the US succeeds in pushing the GLA back to its last stronghold in the Akmola region. With Chinese support, the US destroys the last GLA stronghold, ending the GLA's tyranny.
