Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance
Almost fifty years have passed since Simon Belmont freed the country from the curse of Dracula. Now Simon's descendant Juste Belmont must obtain the relics of Dracula to solve the disappearance of his childhood friend Lydie. The enchanting secrets and dangers of the castle await all who dare to enter.
Story
Juste meets Maxim at a castle where Lydie is being held captive. After a short conversation, he leaves Maxim outside and begins to explore the castle. Inside the castle, Juste meets Death, who confirms that the castle belongs to Dracula. He then meets the dazed Maxim, whose memory is slowly returning, and they split up to go further afield. As they wander through the castle, Juste notices that the castle sometimes has different moods. He keeps running into Maxim, but is puzzled by the fact that his friend seems to keep changing his personality. During one of their meetings, Maxim reveals that he has embarked on a journey to find and destroy the remains of Dracula, something Simon Belmont had done before. Juste encounters Death again, who explains that the castle was divided into two "layers" to house the two spirits in Maxim's body: his original spirit and an evil one created from Dracula's remains and his suppressed jealousy of Juste. Maxim later confirms this and admits to being Lydie's kidnapper. Juste meets his friend again in the other level of the castle, where he reveals to him that he lost his memory to protect Lydie. He then gives Juste his bracelet to help him find her in the castle. But when Juste finds her, Death kidnaps her to use her blood to unite the two castles by destroying Maxim's spirit. Juste defeats Death and sets out to find Maxim. On his way, he collects Dracula's remains scattered throughout the castle. In the middle of the castle he finds Maxim with an unconscious Lydie. There are three endings. In the first, Maxim, who is possessed, has already bitten Lydie. After Maxim's defeat, Juste flees the collapsing castle alone, cursing his inability to save the two friends. In the second story, Maxim fights his obsession and asks Juste to kill him. In his final moments, he thanks Juste for killing him and reveals that he wanted to save him from his fate as Belmont. Outside the castle, Lydie awakens unharmed and tells Juste not to blame himself for Maxim's death. The third ending begins the same as the first, except that during the fight Maxim notices that Juste was wearing his bracelet and fights off the possession. Dracula escapes with the collected remains into a weakened form and fights Juste, who plans to use his blood to regain his full strength. Juste defeats him and flees the castle along with Maxim and Lydie, whose bite wounds disappear when she regains consciousness. Outside the castle, the three decide to return home.
