Bury me, my Love
Bury me, my Love tells the story of Syrian refugee Nour and her husband Majd, who embarks on a dangerous journey to the safety of Europe. Bury me, my Love is a text-messaging adventure game about Nour, a Syrian migrant trying to find her way to Europe. Her husband Majd, who stayed behind in Syria, communicates with Nour through a messaging app and advises her as best he can to make sure she reaches her destination safely. "Bury me, my love," is a Syrian farewell saying that roughly translates to "Take care of yourself, don't even think about dying in front of me." This phrase takes on a deeper meaning when Majd says it to his wife Nour as she begins her perilous journey to Europe. A co-production of ARTE, the European cultural channel, with The Pixel Hunt and Figs.
Story
Bury me, my Love is a "reality-inspired game," a documented fiction directly inspired by real events. The original idea comes from an article by Le Monde journalist Lucie Soullier that tells the story of Dana, a young Syrian woman who fled her country and now lives in Germany. This experience can influence the sensibility of young people.
