Battletoads

"Battletoads" is the first game in the Battletoads series. It is a side-scrolling platform beat-’em-up that incorporates various elements from racing games, climbing sections, and vehicle obstacle courses. Players start each game with three lives, which are replenished every time the player continues after a defeat. The game has neither a save system nor password features. The player has a maximum of six health points, which can be replenished by eating flies. It is considered by some to be one of the hardest games of all time and was previously ranked No. 8 on IGN’s list of the “Top 10 Hardest Games to Beat.”

Story

Following her recent defeat in the Battle of Canis Major, the Dark Queen decides to take out her anger on her archenemies, the Battletoads. The “Toads” and their mentor, Professor T-Bird, are currently escorting Princess Angelica home to her father, the Terran Emperor. During a rest stop, Pimple takes Angelica for a joyride in the Toadster, but the vehicle and its passengers are swallowed up by the Dark Queen’s ship, the Gargantua, and transported to her tower on the planet Ragnarok. Rash and Zitz are immediately sent to the surface of Ragnarok to rescue their friends. They have no idea of the dangers that await them, but they’re ready to risk everything on their rescue mission.
