Asteroids

Asteroids is an arcade space shooter that was released in November 1979. The player controls a spaceship in an asteroid field that is crossed by flying saucers at regular intervals. The objective of the game is to destroy both asteroids and saucers. The triangular ship can turn left and right, fire shots straight ahead and thrust forward. Once the ship moves in a certain direction, it stays in that direction for a while without the player intervening, unless he gives thrust in another direction. The ship eventually comes to a stop if it does not push. The player can also send the ship into hyperspace so that it disappears and reappears at a random location on the screen, with the risk of self-destructing or landing on an asteroid.
