Arkanoid: Revenge of Doh
Arkanoid - Revenge of Doh (also known as Arkanoid 2) is an arcade game published in 1987 by Taito as a sequel to Arkanoid. The mysterious enemy called DOH has returned to take revenge on the spaceship Vaus. The player must once again take control of the Vaus (paddles) and overcome many challenges to destroy DOH once and for all. In Revenge of Doh, the player fights through 34 rounds selected from a total of 64. NEW FEATURES: Revenge of Doh differs from its predecessor with the introduction of "Warp Gates." After completing a level or when the pause pill ("B") is caught, two gates appear at the bottom of the board on either side. The player can choose to go through one of the gates - the choice affects which version of the next level is offered. The fire button is only used when the laser cannons ("L") or the catch pill ("C") are caught. The game also offers two new features for bricks. Notched silver bricks, like normal silver bricks, take several hits to be destroyed. However, they regenerate to full strength after a short time after destruction. Fortunately, notched bricks do not need to be destroyed to finish a level. Also, some bricks move from side to side as long as their left and/or right sides are not blocked by other bricks. In the US version, level 1 has a completely different layout with a whole row of notched stones, with all the colored stones above them moving from side to side. There is a mini-boss in the game in the form of a giant brain that you can practice with for DOH. The home versions of Revenge of DOH also had a level editor that allowed players to create their own levels or edit and replace existing levels, except for two levels: the mini-boss and DOH.
