Archon II: Adept
Archon 2 or Adept is the successor to the successful Electronic Arts classic Archon. As in Archon, an apocalyptic battle takes place in a fantasy setting, now no longer between "light" and "darkness", but between "order" and "chaos". The whole thing takes place in a game area divided into 4 elemental levels. In the middle is the earth layer, it is surrounded by the water layer and this in turn by the air layer. The outer layer consists of fire. Unlike its predecessor, in Adept players start with only one mage ("Adept") per layer. All other creatures must be summoned as the game progresses. Summons and other spells cost energy, which is renewed by occupying energy points on the board with your own creatures. The more points you occupy, the more energy you get. Each side has 4 of their own elemental creatures, which have a special power when they are on their corresponding level. In addition, both sides can summon 4 different demons that can fight regardless of the element chosen. Many of these creatures can use a shooting attack, but they also have many special attacks. Again, when two characters meet on a square, the screen zooms and a fight to the death begins. The winner claims the hard-fought field. Depending on the level you're fighting on, the battlefield holds various obstacles such as slowing lakes, shot-preventing vortexes, walls of flames or simply walls. The only exception are the two empty fields, here no terrain is used
