Alien Breed II: The Horror Continues
Alien Breed II: The Horror has Gauntlet-influenced gameplay, similar to the original Alien Breed (and Alien Breed Special Edition '92), but with many new features. As a soldier of the Interplanetary Corps, you must visit a remote alien-infested colony and destroy the alien invaders. The game is divided into 17 zones, each of which is home to numerous different aliens. As you progress through the game, you'll collect credits that you can exchange for weapons, ammunition and other upgrades via the in-game computers. As you advance, you'll collect keys that you'll have to use wisely, since there are many rooms with bonuses that you don't have to enter.
Story
Nine long years have passed since the first outbreak, when Interplanetary Corps members Johnson and Stone quelled an alien invasion on a remote space research station. Nine years on, the horror has stopped. Times have changed in many ways - the threat of war no longer hangs over the Federation colonies like a dark shroud, every member is aware of the possibility of invasion, everyone is afraid, everyone is now together.... safe. The IPC has now grown and strengthened, especially with the alliance of the six major races in the Federation colonies. As a result, the IPC gained prestige, as one race was much more likely to respect the law when one of their own was calling the shots. The troubles, it seemed, were long over and the Federation could look forward to an indefinite peace. But Johnson and Stone, the heroes who had witnessed this terror, could not be reassured.... Reports of trouble at Federation Colony Alpha-Five, home to several hundred crew members, have sent distress signals in recent hours. Federation headquarters fears the worst; it's almost as if history is repeating itself. The four strongest members of the IPC Navy are called together, but only two will make the trip to FCA5 - their mission assignment is unclear. The horror will continue.
