Air Fortress
Air Fortress is a video game released in Japan for the Nintendo Entertainment System, released in Japan in 1987 and in North America in 1989. Only a total of 385 copies of the game were shipped to the United States in 1987, and it is believed that only 20 copies were previously shipped as a test run for the system. In PAL-A regions, it was only released in Australia. This makes the American version of the game very rare.
Story
Air Fortress has a fairly typical alien invasion story: the inhabitants of the planet Farmel, who had recently acquired the technology for space travel, were eagerly exploring the galaxy when they discovered a flock of monstrous "air fortresses" moving in their direction. Like the creatures in the later movie Independence Day, the fortresses behave like interstellar locusts, devouring all resources and living creatures in their path. The Space Federation sends its most powerful fleet, but it is quickly destroyed by the mighty fortresses. In a last ditch effort, the Federation sends out a lone warrior (Hal Bailman) with a protected space suit, powerful weapons, and a small fire ship to infiltrate the fortresses and destroy them from within.
