1942
1942 is a vertically scrolling shoot 'em up by Capcom, released for the arcade in 1984. The objective is to reach Tokyo and destroy the entire Japanese air fleet. The player controls a plane named "Super Ace". The player must shoot down enemy planes; to avoid enemy fire, the player can perform a roll or a "loop". During the game, the player can collect a number of power-ups. One of them allows the plane to be accompanied by two other smaller fighters in a tip tow formation.
Story
You and the daring fighter pilot "Super Ace" engage in realistic, exciting and challenging high-altitude battles with the enemy. On land, sea and in the air, your own skill and Super Ace's flying skills duel with enemy pilots in fighter and bomber planes. 1942... Planes take off and land on aircraft carriers in the sea, disrupt enemy formations ready to attack, and intercept enemy air warriors that you must defeat by shooting them down from the air. Will it be a victory? Or a defeat? It's in your skillful hands!!!
