1942: The Pacific Air War

From December 1941 until the end of the Great War, the combined forces of Japan fought against the armed forces of the United States of America in a wide ocean dotted with islands. This was the Pacific campaign, one of the bloodiest and hardest fought campaigns in all of history. Although all the forces involved played a significant part in the final outcome, naval aviation played a special role. The aircraft carriers on both sides proved their worth time and time again. The idea behind 1942: The Pacific Air War is to recreate some of the adventures of that time and place and give you the chance to take part in them. To succeed, you must avoid the oil and blood-soaked fire-on-water grave long enough to serve your country or your emperor. As a commanding admiral of the navy, a formidable fighter pilot or simply an anonymous tail gunner, you fight for recognition and bare survival. The Japanese are moving south and east like a steamroller, trying to take control of the Pacific. The Americans fight back, desperately hoping that they can take the power out of the Japanese juggernaut.
